Golmex Concrete Look Plaster / Lime and Cement Based Plaster / Interior/Exterior

Tools needed:

Use a rounded edge stainless-steel trowel or a spatula to apply the two coats of Golmex. Check out Meoded’s large array of trowels!

Surface Preparation – The surface should be clean, dust and oil-free. Any surface with a sheen should be sanded, then prime the surface with multi-purpose primer and let it dry thoroughly. Next, apply one coat of Meoded Quartz Primer allowing it to dry for 3 to 5 hours. Preparation of a flat surface requires the application of Meoded Quartz Primer only.

New Drywall – Prime drywall substrate with PVA acrylic primer and let it dry thoroughly. Next, apply one coat of Meoded Quartz Primer, allowing it 3 to 5 hours to dry.

Exterior Brown Coat – The surface should first be pressure washed and cleaned. When the surface is fully dry, apply Meoded Quartz Primer diluted with up to 30% water. Let it dry for at least 3 to 5 hours. It is recommended to apply three thin coats of Golmex plaster over the brown coat to achieve a smooth surface.

Mix With Water – Insert 30-36 ounces of water in a 10lb gallon, 150-180 ounces of water in a 50lb bucket. Keep the same water consistency in all gallons and buckets. Only mix the amount of material needed, as the cement in Golmex provides the plaster a dry time of about 60-90 minutes.

Coverage: 1 gallon container (10lb) of Golmex will cover between 16-28 sq. ft. up to an ⅛” thickness with two coats.

1 bucket container (50lb) of Golmex will cover between 80-140 sq. ft. up to an ⅛” thickness with two coats

Application – Properly mix the plaster with the correct water ratios. Apply the first layer, after about 5-10 minutes once the plaster has settled, lightly sponge the surface to level the first coat and blend in trowel marks. Allow the plaster to dry for 24 hours and apply the second coat a bit thicker and create the desired texture.

Sealer – After a 48 hour dry time, it is recommended to seal the finish with 2 layers of Stain Shield Sealer. Stain Shield is a natural look sealer, this sealer doesn’t change the color, sheen or texture of the finish. It protects the finish from dirt & stains while enhancing its washability.

Warning: Avoid extended skin contact. Use eye protection and breathing apparatus when sanding material. Keep the room well-ventilated when working indoors.
